Dressing Room Policy

To help keep dressing rooms and change areas safe, respectful, inclusive, and comfortable for all skaters, families, coaches, and volunteers. This policy applies to all skaters, parents/guardians, coaches, volunteers, and Board members at Skate Wheatley events and programs.

1. Inclusive and safe spaces:

  • All dressing rooms are co-ed/gender neutral

  • Skaters should only change skates or footwear in the dressing rooms

  • Skaters who need to change clothes must use the washrooms or designated private spaces

  • Parents or guardians may assist young skaters when needed

2. Special events:

  • During events like carnival, picture day, or shows when quick changes are needed, the club may set up separate male and female change rooms

  • At these times, male parents/guardians are asked not to enter change rooms used by female skaters

3. Supervision:

  • Skaters under 12 must always be supervised by a parent or responsible guardian in dressing rooms and around the arena

  • Parents remain responsible for their children at all times

4. Clean and respectful use:

  • Leave dressing rooms promptly after sessions

  • Keep rooms tidy and take belongings home unless you have a club assigned locker

  • Knock before entering: open the door slightly and ask if anyone is changing

5. Behaviour expectations:

  • Bullying, teasing, rude language, or any inappropriate behaviour is not allowed

  • Respect other skaters’ belongings:

    • Do not move, open, or play with items that aren’t yours

  • Do not use cell phones, cameras, or recording devices in dressing rooms

6. Valuables:

  • Skate Wheatley is not responsible for lost or stolen valuables, bring only what you need

This policy may be updated by the Board if laws, facility rules, or circumstances change.
