Skating Etiquette Policy
Let’s work together to create a safe, respectful, and positive training environment for everyone. Skate Wheatley believes great training starts with great etiquette — on and off the ice. This is a shared responsibility:
-
The club sets the standards.
-
Parents/guardians help skaters understand and respect them.
-
Coaches reinforce them every day on the ice.
Please review these expectations with your skater:
-
Respect everyone on the ice, regardless of age or skill level.
-
Soloists always have the right-of-way; during some sessions coaches may ask soloists to wear a bright vest for visibility.
-
Spins without music should be practiced at the ends of the ice.
-
Check both ways before entering or crossing the ice.
-
After finishing a jump or spin, move out of the way promptly and safely.
-
Before starting an element, watch where soloists and other skaters are heading.
-
Avoid interrupting other skaters’ lesson time.
-
Harnesses must only be used under a coach’s supervision.
-
Parents should not coach or speak to skaters during sessions to help them stay focused.
Kindness makes a difference!
-
Greet each other with a smile.
-
Cheer on fellow skaters — everyone appreciates encouragement!
-
If you accidentally cut someone off or get in the way, say sorry — it shows respect.
Thank you for helping make Skate Wheatley an inclusive, supportive, and safe place to skate!
